Q&A with David Nightingale

· 13.August.2016

It is time for the first FujiLove Academy Q&A video session! Our today’s guest is David Nightingale, official Fujifilm X-Photographer from the U.K., renowned travel and landscape shooter, master all things post-processing and the creative director of Chromasia Training.

Make sure you grab a piece of paper and something to write, as David is dropping quite a few Fuji X knowledge bombs during this 45 minutes (!) Q&A session. Make notes!

Here are some of the questions David is answering:

  • could you quickly explain what the AE-L and AF-L buttons are for?
  • is there a way of having “back button focusing” on the X100T?
  • while using zone focus, the camera auto-selects the points it decides are closest to the camera. If I want to go back to using the central point is there a quick way of doing so without going back into the menu system?
  • do Fujifilm X cameras suffer from dust on the sensor more than dslr?
  • how do I take a photo of a sunset, and have something in the foreground that is not silhouetted?
  • what are the pros and cons of using a UV filter on Fujinon lenses?
  • what happens when I change the in-camera Dynamic Range setting between AUTO, 100, 200 and 400%. How does it impact my images and when should I use it?
  • do I loose image quality, when the OIS is switched ON?
  • is there a way to accelerate the exposure bracketing process to be as fast as CH or CL setting ?
  • how can a telephoto lens possibly autofocus on a target object that is at a good distance away?

We hope you have enjoyed this first FujiLove Academy Q&A session. Do you have follow-up questions? Go ahead and post them below in the comments section or send them in to contactfujilove@gmail.com. David will be answering them during his next Q&A sessions.
