9 Red Dot Design Awards for Fujifilm

· 30.March.2016

Not less than 9 (nine!) Fujifilm products have won the the Red Dot Design Award 2016, a product design award program organized by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen based in Essen, Germany.

The nine awarded Fujifilm products are: X-Pro2, X-70, X-T10, X-E2S, X-A2, XQ2, FinePix XP90, instax mini 70 and… the entire X series lens system ***.

Considering the last position on this list, doesn’t it mean (if I am counting correctly) that Fujifilm has actually won 30 awards? 🙂

*** Well, the first impression you can get when looking at the Fujifilm press release is that in fact the whole Fuji X lens line-up has been awarded. But the truth is, the awarded lenses are: XF16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR  and XF50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international product design award launched in 1955. It examines products released within the past two years, and they are judged in nine criteria including degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecological compatiblity and durability. It is among the world’s most prestigious design award, along with the “iF design award” in Germany and the “International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)” in the United States of America.
Encouraged by the selection of numerous Fujifilm products for the Red Dot Design Award out of a large number of entries from across the world, the company will continue to strive for developing excellent products.
