I have to admit that the Fuji X100 nothing less than changed my Life. Since years i was shooting Nikon/Raw at work and i also did that for special occasions at home. But i always quarreled with the post production. Call me lazy but in the end it felt like work. Often i just used my phone to take pictures, wich I truly regret now.

In 2014 i bought the X100S after a friends advice. His pictures always amazed me so he couldn’t be that wrong. And it was like a relief. Such a small, cool camera with a high quality lens and sensor. No need for anything more. With this camera photography is a joyful pleasure, it is like playing around without limitations. I can operate with one hand and i don’t need an extra camera bag. That’s quite important as i am often on the road with my kids, there’s just no space for extra luggage and no free hand for switching lenses.
A second huge impact was my new workflow. I got myself one of those Eyefi-cards to transfer the pictures directly to my mobile. Some photographers maybe gasp, but from now on i did all the post production just using the VSCOcam app, on the go. That’s what i was looking for: fast and fun. And this workflow naturally simplified a very important part of the whole process: selection. After a shooting or at the end of the day i transfer only the few pictures that touches me, the rest: delete :: all :: yes.
Now 2015 was the first year I entirely spent with the X100. I upgraded to the X100T as soon it was released because now i was a 100% convinced about the whole system. The camera became my daily companion who is always ready. I never really missed the possibility of changing lenses, I would rather say the use of only one fixed lens has sort of soothed my photography and gave it a continuity over all.
I think it is a good opportunity to look back at the entire year and an interesting process to choose one single photo to represent a month. It made me think over again both about my photography and just about the busy year in general. But now have a look yourself.
